RoHS Compliant / Lead Free Products
| Keeping one step ahead of the Industry’s requirements, Meritec's standard board mount connectors are now RoHS compliant and are now available with a lead-free alloy plating configuration. Corporate Statement regarding use of 100% tin-plating on our products.
Meritec is dedicated to supporting its customer’s needs in their efforts to comply with RoHS requirements.
Regarding the removal of lead from our products, Meritec has long held the position that 100% tin plating is not an acceptable alternative to tin/lead plating. While some manufactures in the industry are pursuing 100% matte tin plating as a solution to the lead free requirements, our past experiences with tin plating have shown that tin whisker growth is still a possibility regardless of how the alloy is processed. Some of our customers have also requested that we do not remove the lead from our plating. These customers, for the most part, are Mil/Aero contractors and Meritec will support their needs as well.
Based upon our own studies, and supported by many third party studies over the past 2 years, we have selected several alternatives to pure tin.
- For all of our Standard Board Mount Connectors, Thru-Hole and SMT, we have chosen Palladium over Nickel that has been successfully used within the industry for over 10 years. For processing information:
- For our Flat Flexible Cabling, we have chosen Tin Bismuth plating for the cable conductors and a RoHS compliant solder for terminating. We can also provide the connector manufacturers' RoHS statements for the various connectors we utilize in our assemblies.
- For our Custom Cable Assemblies, we utilize a variety of lead free alternatives. Due to our broad offering and the vast number of components, please specify if your application requires RoHS compliance.
